Pakistan is abuzz with celebrations as it marks the day of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), on Tuesday. Muslims across the world observe this occasion on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awal in various ways, but Pakistan stands out with its brightly illuminated streets and buildings adorned with vibrant, predominantly green lights to honor this day.
On this day, Muslims hold processions, milad gatherings, and prayer ceremonies. In Karachi, the MA Jinnah Road will be closed for the day to accommodate three major processions, with the Karachi Traffic Police issuing a detailed traffic diversion plan to manage the celebrations.
President Asif Ali Zardari called upon the nation and the Muslim Ummah to abide by the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) as a “guiding light to overcome the prevailing challenges.” In his message, Zardari greeted the nation on the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and emphasized that “Allah Almighty had set the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) life as a role model to guide every aspect of life.”
The president highlighted that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) “established a just society where every individual, regardless of their wealth or social status, could live with dignity.” He stressed the importance of speaking out against oppression and supporting the marginalized, reflecting the Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings.
“Today, as the world faces division and oppression, it’s imperative to spread the message of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who embodied love, tolerance, and human rights. He treated all individuals, regardless of their faith, with respect and dignity. Embracing this spirit, we must promote global brotherhood, justice, and love,” President Zardari remarked.
He urged the nation to dedicate the day to the welfare of humanity and incorporate the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) into their daily lives. “His life exemplifies service to humanity, from caring for orphans and supporting the poor to inquiring after the sick,” he said.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, stated that “the solution to the challenges facing the Muslim Ummah and Pakistan lies in the teachings of Holy Prophet (PBUH).” He urged the nation to set aside their differences and work together for the development of the country.
“The 12th of Rabi-ul-Awal is an auspicious day when Allah Almighty bestowed upon humanity a perfect guidance,” the prime minister said. He emphasized that the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) life and character are “a torch of guidance for us.”
PM Shehbaz remarked that “the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) every act and decree is a manifestation of how humanity can be guided on the path of development based on the principles of love, tolerance, and justice.” He stressed the need for unity, love, and brotherhood, and the importance of helping the weak, orphans, and the needy.
The premier also remembered those being oppressed in Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). “On this occasion, we should also remember our oppressed Palestinian and Kashmiri brothers and sisters. In Gaza, Palestine, and IIOJK, there are heart-wrenching incidents of atrocities on innocent people,” he said.
“The ongoing violation of human rights in IIOJK is a heartbreaking incident. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) always taught justice, freedom, and protection of human rights. Today we should express our solidarity with the oppressed and raise our voice in their favor,” PM Shehbaz added.
He concluded by urging the nation to adopt the practices of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in striving for the welfare of others and called on the international community to support the oppressed people of Palestine and IIOJK.
