Naila Kiani, a Pakistani mountaineer based in Dubai, has begun her quest to climb K2, the world’s second-highest peak, and become the first Pakistani woman to do it.
Naila has already arrived at camp 1 on K2, which rises 8,611 metres above sea level and is also referred to as the “killing mountain” due to its extraordinarily challenging terrain.
According to sources, Naila began her ascent from K2 base camp on Sunday and arrived at camp 1, which is at a height of 6,900 metres, on Monday.
Naila should reach the top of K2 by July 22 or 23, depending on the weather.As the first Pakistani woman to summit any eight thousander within the nation, Naila scaled Gasherbrum II.
