With a mission to “reorganise” the party ahead of the crucial elections for the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies, Maryam Nawaz, senior vice president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has at last arrived in Lahore.
Maryam, who was in charge of planning the party, flew into the Allama Iqbal International Airport from Abu Dhabi at roughly 3:30 p.m. after a little delay.
The daughter of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif has been in London since her father’s acquittal in the Avenfield reference case in October.
Maryam tweeted “Long live Pakistan” after arrival and promised to put all of her energies towards strengthening the PML-N.
According to the PML-N senior vice president, her father, who has been residing in London since 2019, will return to Pakistan “soon” and is already making arrangements. Since the year 2019, her father has resided there.
Senior leaders are also present, and party workers from the province’s capital have built up camps outside the airport to welcome Maryam under strict security to prevent any unfortunate incidents.
Marriyum Aurangzeb, the communications minister, posted on Twitter prior to Maryam’s arrival that party officials, staff, and supporters were eagerly anticipating her.
After her return, Maryam Nawaz would start restructuring the party’s organisational structure, the minister said.
