ISLAMABAD: Senior Puisne Judge Justice Aamer Farooq has been named the new chief justice (CJ) of the Islamabad High Court after the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) approved his nomination on Tuesday (IHC).Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial presided over the JCP meeting, which was conducted to discuss the nomination of the IHC CJ.
Senior Supreme Court judges, Law Minister Ayaz Sadiq, Pakistan’s Attorney General Ashtar Ausaf, leaders of the Pakistan Bar Council, and other participants attended the conference.JCP proposed the judges be appointed and confirmed in accordance with Article 175-A of the Constitution, and the Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointment supports these recommendations.
