Kaleem Sana, a left-arm seamer, gave Canada the perfect start by dismissing the dangerous Steve Taylor for a duck. Andries Gous joined skipper Monank Patel, and the two attempted to increase the scoring rate with a flurry of boundaries.
Canada struck with Monank’s wicket, but the USA regained momentum with Aaron Jones leading the charge. Jones, alongside Andries Gous, accelerated the scoring rate, adding 45 runs in three overs. Jones smashed three sixes in an over, achieving the fastest T20I fifty for his team in just 22 balls. Gous joined the onslaught, reaching his fifty in the next over.
