LONDON: On Thursday, promoted Nottingham Forest outbid rival Premier League teams to sign Jesse Lingard on a free transfer.In 231 games for the Red Devils, the 29-year-old scored 35 goals, and he also did well on loan at West Ham in the 2020–21 season.
There were rumours of a return to the Hammers, but they were apparently outbid by Forest’s offer of a one-year contract paying $240,000 per week.Lingard will also be trying to get back into the running for a spot in the England World Cup team.
The midfielder was a member of Gareth Southgate’s team four years ago as they advanced to the World Cup semifinals.Dean Henderson, a former United teammate who joined on a loan earlier this month, will join Lingard.
