At the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, Japanese Ambassador Wada Mitsuhiro met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and expressed his commitment to provide the flood-affected Pakistanis with unwavering support.
Topics of common interest, the security environment in the area, and cooperation and partnership in relation to humanitarian measures were reviewed during the meeting, according to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday.
According to Gen. Bajwa, stated by the ISPR, “Pakistan cherishes Japan’s involvement in global and regional affairs and we look forward to enhancing our bilateral partnership.”
The ambassador also conveyed his sorrow over the destruction brought on by Pakistan’s continuing flooding and extended his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased.
The statement also said that he pledged his complete support to the Pakistani people and that he welcomed the Pakistan Army’s efforts to help the civil government with rescue and relief operations in the flood-affected areas.
The COAS expressed appreciation for Japan’s help and stressed that “assistance from our worldwide allies shall be important in rescue/rehabilitation of the victims,” according to the military’s media wing.
