The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has decided to re-advertise the job for the appointment under the NITB Act, which has caused the Executive Director (ED) National Information Technology Board (NITB) appointment to take on a new twist.
According to sources, the MoITT has decided to restart the process of appointing a new ED under the NITB Act as a result of Dr. Sohail Munir’s unwillingness to accept the position of ED NITB. Previously, it was planning to resend the summary to the federal cabinet for approval of the second name that the interview panel had decided upon.
Dr. Sohail Munir was offered a job by the ministry on August 4, 2022, after the federal cabinet had authorised his nomination as ED. Dr. Munir, however, declined to participate and formally informed the ministry of his unavailability because of a job abroad.
