The 77th anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day was commemorated on Thursday at the Indonesian Embassy in Islamabad.
During his speech, the ceremony’s primary guest, Federal Minister for Industries and Production Division Makhdoom Syed Murtaza Mehmood, thanked the Indonesian ambassador on his country’s independence day and emphasised the close political, diplomatic, and economic connections between the two nations.
The minister also expressed gratitude to the Indonesian government for helping Pakistani flood victims with relief efforts. He also recognised the assistance provided by the Indonesian government in resolving the palm oil situation.
The 77th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence is another key milestone for Indonesia, according to Adam Mulawarman Tugio, the ambassador of Indonesia to Pakistan, who was speaking to the attendees. According to him, Indonesia is now the third-largest democracy in the world and a place where modernity and Islam coexist together and contribute to economic advancement.
Including the views of developing nations and guaranteeing their involvement in the development process were crucial components of Indonesia’s inclusive strategy during the country’s G-20 presidency, he continued.
The Ambassador also sent his deepest thoughts and condolences to Pakistan’s recent victims of severe flash floods. “We think that no nation can face such a large-scale natural disaster alone, and it is a common obligation of everyone to help individuals in need,” he continued. In this trying moment, Indonesia supports its Pakistani brothers and sisters.
The Indonesian government sent two special planes carrying humanitarian supplies in kind and a medical team with a US$1 million grant to Pakistan last month as a show of solidarity, he continued.
The Ambassador stated that since Indonesia and Pakistan’s diplomatic connections were established in 1947, their bilateral relations have been stronger and more extensive.
As a reliable ally and partner in South Asia, Pakistan is crucial for Indonesia strategically. Indonesia presents our partners in the business sector in Pakistan with fantastic investment prospects and collaboration due to the fast rising national economy and the growing significance of ASEAN as a trading centre.
The Ambassador concluded that both parties are fully aware of the potential and advantages of cooperation and are moving forward by establishing various mechanisms, bilateral consultation forums, policy dialogue, trade promotion, and strengthening of people-to-people contacts in order to reap more benefits from fruitful engagement.
