Internet speed across the country was notified by PTCL that an outage has occurred in one of its upstream networks says the report.
The SMW5 international underwater cable reportedly suffered problems on Wednesday, resulting in slower speeds for certain internet customers.
According to ProPakistani, citing the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA), PTCL has informed ISPs across Pakistan of an outage in one of the international upstream networks.
According to the study, “standard procedures to supply uninterrupted internet services to the consumers have proven useless so far,” with significant impacts on eastbound traffic due to pending issues that have yet to be resolved.
Recent information indicates that the upstream quality of service in Egypt’s terrestrial segment has degraded following the breakage of various international cables (MENA, AAE-1, and SMW5).
Earlier in the day, users in Pakistan reported that they could partially access the Meta-owned social media networks WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook again.
Social networking sites reportedly went offline at 5 pm, according to Downdetector, which monitors outages by compiling status reports from several sources, including user-submitted problems on its platform.
Two days after a global Instagram outage, news of this one spread. On Monday, the company, which is owned by Meta, announced that it was investigating a problem that had stopped thousands of customers from accessing the photo-sharing platform.
