LONDON: The Interpol (International Police) has rejected the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party’s request to issue a Red Corner Notice (RCN) about terrorism charges against prominent Khalistan supporter Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. This is a significant defeat for India. As the founder and legal counsel for the secessionist organisation Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), which had organised the voting for the Khalistan Referendum across the UK, Europe, and now in Canada, Interpol has announced that it rejected India’s request to issue a Red Corner Notice on Pannun.
Indian authorities had asked Interpol to find Pannun and hold him there until they could seek his extradition and return, or take other legal action. An RCN is a global call for assistance from law enforcement agencies around the world in locating and apprehending a wanted individual that Interpol issues against them.
