On Thursday, the House of Representatives’ Commission I decided to raise the National Cyber and Encryption Agency’s (BSSN) budget to Rp624 billion in 2023. It was decided to raise the funding cap in order to assist the agency in better defending itself against cyberattacks like the recent assaults by the hacker known as Bjorka.
On Thursday, September 22, at the Commission I Hearing of the House, this budget increase was approved.
Hinsa Siburian, the head of the BSSN, expressed his gratitude for the budget increase approved at the DPR meeting. The draught would then be reformed by the House Budget Committee (Banggar), following which it would be officially presented and read aloud during a formal plenary.
The BSSN is looking into Bjorka’s identification, assisted by a committed team from other governmental authorities.
“Due to the fact that it is more technical, I believe Bareskrim will be able to talk [about it more] later. Due to the fact that this relates to digital forensics, we will just have to wait “explained BSSN Head Hinsa Siburian during a news conference on September 13 at the BSSN Headquarters in Sawangan, Depok.
But when asked about Bjorka’s identity, whether the criminal is domestic or foreign, or whether Bjorka is a single individual or a group, Hinsa only grinned and resisted providing more information.
We are actively looking into that (issue),” he stated.
