Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was granted provisional bail on Thursday by an Islamabad sessions court in the case stemming from his divisive comments about a female judge made during an Islamabad rally.
Judge Kamran Basharat Mufti of Sessions Court granted Imran Khan’s request for release till October 13. Khan has been asked for a Rs. 50,000 surety bond.
Imran Khan’s attorney Babar Awan addressed the court throughout the proceedings and stated that his client was also there.
Babar Awan responded in the positive when the court enquired as to whether this was the first bail application.
The hearing was postponed till October 13 when Babar Awan notified the judge that another case against Imran Khan was scheduled to be heard in court on that day.
For the case hearing, security measures around the court were stepped up.
