Imran Khan, a former prime minister and the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has filed an affidavit in the contempt of court case brought against him for allegedly threatening a judge.
Although he acknowledged that he “may have crossed a red line while delivering a public statement,” Imran Khan did not retract his comments in his most recent answer.
Khan promised the IHC that he would “never do anything in the future” to insult the integrity of any court or the legal system, particularly the subordinate courts.
The PTI chairman continued by stating that he is ready to take whatever additional actions the IHC deems appropriate and that he never meant to obstruct the court’s work or question the independence or dignity of the judiciary.
The former CEO stated that he “one again assure[s] this court that he will always adhere by the above declaration, in letter and spirit” and that he stands by his statement from September 22.
Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI, went to Zeba Chaudhry’s court the day before to apologise, but the judge wasn’t there since she was on vacation.
Imran Khan told the court reader, “I have come to apologise to judicial magistrate Zeba Chaudhry.” He requested that the reader remain as a witness when he appeared in her court to make an apology.
Before departing, he instructed the reader to inform Madam Zeba Chaudhry that Imran Khan had come and want to express his regret if any of his remarks had offended her.
