ISLAMABAD: Pakistan strongly denounced on Saturday the ongoing extrajudicial executions committed by Indian occupation forces in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
“It is profoundly alarming that in the last week, Indian forces have openly committed a series of extrajudicial executions with impunity on a daily basis,” the Foreign Office spokesperson said in a statement.
Two innocent Kashmiris were brutally murdered by Indian occupation forces in an incident close to Kupwara. One more innocent Kashmiri was brutally murdered in cold blood in another encounter that took place during a ‘cordon and search’ operation in the Kulgam district.
Second incident that seemed to be a police encounter resulted in the shooting deaths of two more innocent Kashmiris in the Kulgam district. Even yesterday, a staged encounter in Baramulla resulted in the killing of two unarmed Kashmiris.
Every so-called “cordon and search” operation is followed by stage-managed encounters that result in extrajudicial killings of Kashmiris. These actions flagrantly violate the fundamental principles of law and justice as well as the fundamental human rights and liberties of the defenceless Kashmiri people. Indian occupation forces have killed more than 678 Kashmiris since their unilateral and unlawful operations on August 5, 2019, including at least 158 this year.
The spokesperson stated that Pakistan repeated its request for the OHCHR’s (Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights) recommendations in the Kashmir Reports of 2018 and 2019 for the commission of inquiry to look into extrajudicial murders in IIOJK.
He continued, “Pakistan also urges the international community to hold India accountable for its blatant persecution of the innocent Kashmiris and to play its proper role in ensuring a just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
