When it comes to the all-rounder from India, Salman Butt is not content with what he has seen in terms of Hardik’s leadership ability.
Hardik Pandya will be leading the Indian cricket team on their first trip after the Twenty20 World Cup 2022, which will take place in New Zealand. Although Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the team in all three formats, the selectors have decided to give him a break from the series and have Hardik take over as captain for the trip.
Hardik has received support from a number of past cricketers as well as current cricket gurus to succeed Rohit as the captain of India’s shortest-format team. On the other hand, former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt isn’t happy with what he’s seen from India’s all-rounder in terms of his leadership ability. He isn’t content with what he’s seen from India’s all-rounder.
Butt was quizzed on Hardik’s ability to take over as India’s leader in the not-too-distant future in a video that was uploaded to Butt’s YouTube channel. However, the experienced Pakistani cricketer is of the opinion that Rohit Sharma should not be removed from his position as captain of India only due to the fact that he was unable to win the Twenty20 World Cup in 2022.
“I have no idea who is dreaming that he is the captain or who is seeing him in that role. He is talented and has seen success in the Indian Premier League. But even Rohit Sharma has had between five and six victories in the Indian Premier League. People wouldn’t have been talking about making this move at the top if he had scored well in a few matches during the T20 World Cup 2022 “he remarked.
“On the Asian subcontinent, people tend to begin discussing major life shifts and sweeping transformations very quickly. It’s likely that the majority of them, if not all of them, are clueless about how these mechanisms operate. People will sometimes remark “change the captain” as a way to express their viewpoint “he added.
Butt said that the World Cup, which has a total of 12 teams competing for the title, can only be won by one captain and one squad. That in no way implies that the other 11 captains should be removed from their positions.
“The World Cup has been won by just one captain; the other teams all went home empty-handed. Because all 11 teams finished in last place at the World Cup, would you replace the captains of those teams?” he made the claim.
On Friday, the maiden Twenty20 international match between India and New Zealand was scheduled to take place in Wellington. Hardik was slated to head the Indian squad. However, because of the constant rain at the location, the match was called off before the first ball was played.
