A district and sessions court in Lahore on Saturday granted the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) a two-day physical remand of PTI senior leader Hamid Zaman in a case involving unlawful funding.In preparation for today’s hearing, the FIA brought Zaman’s allegations before Judicial Magistrate Ghulam Murtaza Virk. The PTI leader’s 14-day physical remand was requested by the FIA in a plea with the court.
Munim Bashir Chaudhry, a prosecutor with the FIA, stated: “The remand is necessary to conclude the investigation.”However, the court ordered the investigation officer to provide a progress report on the inquiry on October 10 and granted the FIA a two-day physical remand of Zaman.The judge said, “According to the record, Hamid Zaman is suspected of obtaining unlawful financing.”The day before, the FIA arrested Zaman, a founding member of the PTI, in his Lahore office in connection with the foreign funding investigation.
