For its iPhone apps, Google has begun releasing lock screen widgets for iOS 16. The widgets are now accessible for Drive, Chrome, Google News, and Gmail. The widgets for search, maps, and calendar, however, have not yet been delivered. The brand-new Google widgets are offered linear, rectangular, and circular shapes. On the lock screen, the first two will be displayed below the clock and the inline will be displayed above it.
The rectangle widget for Gmail displays the quantity of fresh messages received and divides them into groups, such as Social, Updates, or Promotions. The ringed widget just displays the total number of new messages. The inline widget, on the other hand, shows the date (in a condensed form) and the total number of messages.
In the case of Google News, a rectangular widget displays short headlines on the lock screen. When tapped, it takes the user directly to the Google News app to read the full story.
Drive offers rectangular widgets as well as two circular widgets. The rectangular widget enables quick access to the ‘suggested files’, while the circular widgets enable search in any particular file or access to the starred files.
Chrome’s circular widget launches Google Search in Chrome. It supports incognito search, voice search and Dino Game.
Last month, Apple launched the most recent upgrade to its iOS 16 operating system. The iOS 16 update introduces a new “lock screen with widgets” feature that enables users to add widgets to the lock screen and utilise those widgets to display alerts. Without having to unlock the iPhone, the lock screen displays more details at a glance with widgets enabled, like the weather, time zones, battery life, and upcoming calendar events.
