Officials reported that a boat carrying more than 100 guests headed to a marriage party capsized in the Indus River, killing at least 23 people so far and leaving 26 others missing.
According to a government statement, divers saved nearly 90 people, most of whom were women and children.
It stated that everyone on board belonged to one clan and was traveling to a wedding across the river.
To find the missing, a search and rescue operation is in progress.
The police also confirmed that one of the two boats that were transporting the 150 wedding guests from Rojhan to Machhka capsized.

Sources claim that Hussain Kala’s wedding convoy, which included members of the Solangi community, was making its way from Machhka in the Rojhan tehsil of Kharorwali to Sardarpur. After arriving on the scene, the Rescue 1122 divers and district administration officials, assisted by locals, saved a number of passengers and recovered the bodies of others.
Shabana, 18, Hamidan, 22, and Allah Dani, 14, have all had their bodies identified so far. Muhammad Akram, Muhammad Ramazan, Luqman, and Muhammad Amin were among those who were rescued.
The loss of these priceless lives has also brought out the deep sorrow and grief of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
