NEW YORK: Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has called for global cooperation, conciliation and solidarity to overcome the challenges of economy, energy and climate catastrophe.
The Pakistani Foreign Minister said that in order to meet the challenges of the future, new, creative and effective approaches must be developed in order to rebuild a world order that can avert global catastrophe, maintain peace and security, and foster the equitable and inclusive development of all nations and peoples in harmony with nature. He made this statement while speaking at a high-level meeting of Young Foreign Ministers in New York on the sidelines of the UNGA’s 77th session.
In order to foresee a future international order that will ensure everyone’s security, peace, and harmony, the foreign minister presented a six-point agenda.
He claimed that the threats posed by climate change have begun to grow so quickly that they are outpacing both nature and humanity’s capacity for adaptation. “One of the deadliest natural disasters in American history has struck our nation. Over 33 million people have been directly impacted, and more than 1,300 priceless lives have been lost.
“Improving the methods of implementation, particularly climate funding, technology transfer, and capacity building, would be necessary for effective climate action. The agreement made in Glasgow can serve as the foundation for a more ambitious climate action strategy, he continued.
He also emphasised the necessity of creating a system to use the public funds that are already available to access private sector investments in adaptation and mitigation projects. We must make sure that everyone benefits from technical breakthroughs and that economic growth is reflected in everyone’s income and way of living.
A strong message from Bilawal Bhutto Zardari urges young people everywhere to get ready for the difficulties that lie ahead and that pose growing dangers to the world’s economy, environment, and peace.
