Female vampire
In a Polish town, the corpse of a “female vampire” was discovered with a sickle across her throat. So that she could not “return from the dead,” her toe was discovered padlocked. While conducting archaeological research, the skeleton was found at a cemetery from the 17th century.
Along with the skeleton’s remains, a silk headdress was discovered, indicating her high social standing. The project team leader claimed that the body was interred in an unorthodox manner.
He claimed that in earlier times, when people did not want their dead to come back to life, they would sometimes burn, cut off their limbs, or shatter their bodies with stones before burying them.
