At the Indus Conclave hosted by the Punjab group, Dr. Zafar Mirza, Senator Ayesha Raza Farooq, and Dr. Shahzad Ali Chaudhary spoke to attendees about pandemics and public health.
In his remarks to the audience, Dr. Zafar Mirza said that Pakistan’s health system is split into the public and private sectors, with the private sector accounting for up to 65 percent of every 100 rupees spent on health.
In her speech, Senator Ayesha Raza Farooq emphasised the importance of giving provinces more power and stated that the government’s first priority should be to enhance the funds set aside for health care.
Dr. Shahzad Ali acknowledged the dire state of the nation’s healthcare system when addressing the audience, but he also made note of how unconcerned his fellow citizens are about their health.
