ISLAMABAD: After the PTI expelled longtime member Faisal Vawda for violating party rules with his remarks about the long march, the former minister questioned the decision on Saturday, asking whether party rule had been broken.
Vawda has expressed surprise and claimed he had no idea what specifically he did to elicit such a strong reaction from the party.
Following the assassination of journalist Arshad Sharif in Kenya on October 26, a former PTI member held a news conference in Islamabad. Vawda said that Sharif was assassinated in a “premeditated murder.”
Vawda stated during the press conference that the PTI long march, which started on Friday, October 28 in Lahore, would “see bloodshed, death, and burials.”
Following his remark, the party first suspended his membership; but, because he failed to reply to the show-cause notice sent to him on the day of his vehement press conference, it was ultimately cancelled today.Vawda’s basic membership in the party has been terminated, PTI announced on Twitter.
