After purchasing Twitter for $44 billion, Elon Musk, the company’s new CEO, recently made a shocking announcement that accounts with verified badges will have to pay to maintain the privilege. This announcement caused people with verified accounts to fear.
Initially, Musk stated that users would need to pay $20, but after some users attempted to bargain with him, Musk agreed to lower the price and stated that the verified account would cost $8. However, Twitter users were still unconvinced by the offer.
As a result, several of them began tagging the Twitter CEO in their complaints and justifications for not paying verified accounts. Musk initially modified his Twitter bio to read “Twitter Complaint Hotline Operator” in retaliation.
