Elon Musk
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Inc., has written a piece for the official journal of China’s Cyberspace Administration, a powerful organisation that manages information security for businesses like Tencent and Alibaba and works with other governmental agencies to censor internet content.
In the July issue of the official magazine of the CAC, the billionaire joined local business leaders like Ant Group Co. Chairman Eric Jing in outlining a recognisable vision for how technology can secure humanity’s future and shared his views on responsible technological advancement that promotes diversity and inclusion.
These opinions are in line with the administration of President Xi Jinping, who has been working for more than a year to curtail the influence of internet titans like Tencent Holdings Ltd. and Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.
The crackdown, which cost the market more than $1 trillion in value, started in 2020 when regulators blocked Ant’s record IPO and peaked around the time Didi Global Inc. delisted. The CAC was the driving force behind this operation.
