ISLAMABAD: The decision in the PTI foreign funding issue, which was reserved on June 21, will be made public tomorrow (Tuesday) at 10am, according to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The cause list for the case involving unlawful funding was made public by the electoral commission today. The decision would be made public by a three-member court headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, per the reason list.
The decision to release the ruling follows that exposed how the PTI accepted funds from the Wootton Cricket Club, which is owned by Arif Naqvi, the founder of Abraaj. The money was raised through a charity match, and a prominent Arab donor also contributed a sizeable sum of money.
In the first week of August, the election commission will announce its decision regarding foreign fundraising.According to the sources, the PTI would only hurt itself by filing a reference against CEC because some details that had previously been kept from the public’s gaze would come to light during the proceedings.
According to them, the ECP is a constitutional entity and would stay on the constitutional course.
“The ECP will not submit to any coercion or act as a victim of blackmail. The electoral commission does not favour any political party and does not disfavour any political party. The ECP is supported by those who are abiding by the law.
