ISLAMABAD: On Friday, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet suspended the import policy to let the entry of wood and lumber as well as 300,000 tonnes of urea fertiliser and 800,000 tonnes of wheat.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s conference also approved funding for the establishment of a 2,000-person specialised anti-riot force within Frontier Constabulary. The choice was made just as Imran Khan began his arduous journey to Islamabad.The suspension of import restrictions outlined in Import Policy 2022 with regard to the import of wood and timber were summarised by the Ministry of Commerce. It was disclosed that the All Pakistan Timber Traders Association (APTTA) has asked for a postponement of the deadline for putting the import permit’s stipulations into effect. The operation of the import policy provisions was later halted by the federal government until August 31 of this year.
