As retaliation for the Taliban’s oppressive treatment of women and girls in Afghanistan, the US imposed fresh sanctions against them on Tuesday.
The new visa limitation policy for current or former Taliban militants and anyone who oppress women via violent means was introduced by Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
On the UN’s International Day of the Girl Child, Blinken made the statement.
As a sombre illustration, Blinken stated that Afghanistan continues to be the only country in the world where girls are routinely prohibited from continuing their education past the sixth grade.
Girls are not allowed to attend secondary school, according to the hardline Taliban, who took over control in August 2021 after US soldiers withdrew. However, women are welcome to enrol at universities.
Numerous students were murdered and injured in a recent suicide explosion in a Kabul classroom while they studied for tests.
