On the death anniversary of your great father, I condole you from the depth of my heart. Your grand father Dr. Allama Iqbal loved him much. His poem titled جاوید کے نام addressed to Javaid and his Javaid Nama are the master pieces of poetry. Your father was a great intellectual and a modernist who interpreted the poetry of his father in an inspiring and insightful way. I very vividly remember when a few years ago, we participated in an international conference in Iran and you accompanied him. We were also invited by Hassan Khomeini, the grand son of Imam Khomeini. The pic of our meeting with Hassan Khomeini is included in the autobiography of your father titled اپناگریباں چاک۔
It is the matter of great pride and privilege for me that he had kindly written his precious remarks on my English poetry book titled “ Visions and Vistas”. And also generously had commented on my Urdu/ Persian poetry book titled آوازِ عصر. My friendly relations with your father are great intellectual asset of my life. In my book of Urdu columns titled چراغِ افکار, there is a column captioned جاوید اقبال کی باتیں. In this column I have written about my literary and philosophical interaction with him . Besides, his being a scholar, lawyer, thinker, Senator and Chief Justice, he was a great humanist and liberal visionary. His books in English and Urdu languages distinguish him from common coterie of interpreters and commentators on the poetry and philosophy of Dr Allama Iqbal. Had he been alive, he would have immensely pleased and pleasured to read my recently published book titled “The Message of Iqbal”, as this book is based on rational , revolutionary and spiritual interpretation of the philosophy of Dr. Iqbal. May his soul rest In Peace. He was a beacon of light and his ideas are like sheeny stars in the firmament of literature and philosophy. His name has become immortal with the name of his father Dr. Allama Iqbal.
