The Shahkam Chowk Flyover project on Canal Road in Lahore was inaugurated on Tuesday by Punjab Chief Minister Ch Parvez Elahi.
The three-lane dual-way flyover, which cost Rs 3.91 billion to complete, is 606 metres long. One lakh and 20,000 cars would have access to this signal-free corridor facility daily. The estimated cost of the project was Rs 4.23 billion, while the government asserts that it has Rs 320 million.
Speaking at the ceremony’s opening, the CM claimed that Shehbaz Sharif has been actively disrupting the Punjab government since since he was appointed prime minister.
“Shehbaz Sharif and the federal administration have been shocked by the by-election results. The PML-N is a qabza group and has employed such individuals to pursue this objective, he added, adding that the N-League and PDM do not grasp what they must accomplish right now and, God willing, they will not.
The CM lamented the N-involvement League’s in political wheat-spreading.
Shehbaz Sharif’s animosity toward the Punjabi people has surfaced; he claimed and noted that the federal government had provided wheat to every province but Punjab. He regretted and stated that the federal government neither gave wheat to Punjab nor permitted us to import it. It gave wheat to Sindh but forbade Punjab to import wheat. He claimed that the Punjab government is owed 170 billion rupees in payments from the federal government, which it has also ceased doing.
How can the PML-N ask the people of Punjab for their votes when they are openly antagonistic to the state? We are taking the federal government’s actions to the Supreme Court,” he declared. He claimed that Shehbaz Sharif, like other welfare-focused programmes, disbanded the Al-Mubarak Center project.
In the Al-Mubarak Center, a five-star hotel and a rooftop food court the size of a football field will be constructed. By building a tunnel to connect Al-Mubarak Center and Qaddafi Stadium, traffic issues will also be avoided. At the Al-Mubarak Center, parking spaces for 7,000 cars will be available, he said.
He stated that in order to maintain peace and order in the housing societies next to Shahkam Chowk, patrolling posts and a rescue 1122 centre would also be constructed.
He said that the owners of the housing societies would be responsible for paying for the construction of these facilities. He claimed that the construction of sewerage by private housing societies results in problems. Before making their ideas public, “private housing organisations must ensure the installation of sewerage, roads, and other facilities,” he stated.
He stated that housing societies will receive letters requiring them to build sewerage and other amenities prior to building. He stated that private housing societies have been given a week to comply and threatened to take action against any that do not.
Societies ought to provide amenities to those who contribute to their financial stability. He claimed that for the convenience of the average person, the land transfer charge had been completely decreased. The property industry is growing because to the decrease in transfer fees.
Work on the RUDA and CBD projects has also begun in accordance with Imran Khan’s vision.
The Lahore master plan has also been approved to address the city’s growing population and transportation issues. In Lahore, green and brown areas have been set aside for building, he claimed.
He revealed and asserted that this project will be a wonderful present for the people of Lahore. The government will also set up an underground travel facility within the city.
The CM stated that although Shehbaz Sharif also halted the underground project’s progress, it had begun during his prior term.
I congratulate DG LDA and his team on the Shahkam Chowk flyover project’s estimated 31 crore rupee cost savings, he said.
