The former president, three of his adult children, and the Trump Organization are the targets of a broad lawsuit brought by the New York state attorney general on Wednesday. The lawsuit claims that the defendants participated in a decade-long, extensive fraud that the former president used to enrich himself.
Attorney General Letitia James, a Democrat, claims that the fraud affected every facet of the Trump company, including its buildings and golf courses, in the more than 200-page complaint. The complaint alleges that the Trump Organization inflated the worth of his properties using false evaluations, deceiving lenders, insurers, and tax authorities.
At a news conference in New York, James stated, “This conduct cannot be excused as some type of good-faith error.”
She said, “The claims of financial status were materially overstated, substantially inflated, obviously untrue, and, as a result, fraudulent and unlawful.” And as a consequence, we are looking for assistance; Mr. Trump, the Trump Organization, and his family should all be held responsible, too.
