China is going to provide Pakistan with high-speed train technology State broadcaster CCTV says the first group of 46 train cars has been loaded and will be shipped on November 3.
BEIJING: CCTV, China’s state television, reported on Wednesday that China would ship technology for a 160 km/h high-speed railway train to Pakistan.
The first shipment, consisting of 46 cars, will leave the loading dock on November 3.
According to the source, this is the first time they have exported the technology, and parts for another 184 carriages would be transported to Pakistan for assembly.
State media in both China and Pakistan have recently called for a speedier completion of the economic corridor and related facilities for the Gwadar Sea Port.
In a meeting earlier today, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Xi Jinping reaffirmed their commitment to further developing the strategic partnership between China and Pakistan, including the CPEC.
At their meeting in the People’s Great Hall of China, the two presidents discussed regional and global issues, as well as broadened economic and investment ties.
Both Shehbaz and Xi agreed that the ‘all-weather strategic cooperation partnership’ between their countries needs to be strengthened.
The day ahead for PM Shehbaz in Beijing seems jam-packed. There is speculation that he may also meet with Chinese investors and Pakistani businesses in addition to Premier Li Keqiang.
Pakistan’s prime minister arrived in Beijing on Tuesday to meet with Chinese authorities and discuss regional and global issues during his country’s two-day official visit.
The prime minister, who was leading a high-level group, was greeted enthusiastically by senior Chinese officials upon his arrival at Beijing’s airport.
