A large fire has broken out at the Centaurus Mall in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital.
Images on social media showed a massive plume of smoke rising from the building, with some footage showing flames both inside and outside.
They also showed people attempting to escape from the building.
Meanwhile, a Pakistan Navy spokesperson stated that the institution was also assisting in the firefighting effort, adding that a navy team and three fire tenders were on the scene.
Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, took notice of the incident and stated that he had directed relevant institutions and authorities to take immediate action.
“It is unfortunate that this incident occurred in this well-known business district.” I hope there is no loss of life. “My condolences and sympathies for the victims’ financial losses,” he tweeted.
According to the CDA, the majority of the affected area is now being cooled, and the remainder will be under control soon.
Younis stated that 60 to 70% of the fire was under control and that it was spreading upward through the balconies of the residential apartments.
