For aiding ISIS in Syria, a Canadian man was given a 20-year jail term in the US on Monday.
2019 saw the extradition of Abdullahi Ahmed Abdullahi, 37, of Edmonton, Alberta, to San Diego, according to a statement from the Justice Department.
According to the report, Abdullahi entered a guilty plea to all counts in December 2021 in federal court in San Diego.
He was charged with facilitating the flight to Syria of six North Americans who later joined ISIS.
Abdullahi acknowledged to an armed robbery of an Edmonton jewellery store in 2014 to help generate money.
The six comprised Douglas McAuthur McCain, a resident of San Diego, three of his relatives from Edmonton, an 18-year-old cousin from Minneapolis, and three more cousins.
The Justice Department reported that all six of the victims later died while supporting ISIS.
