The Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Andreas Ferrarese, was received by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today.
The Prime Minister described Italy as Pakistan’s close friend and a trustworthy partner, both bilaterally and inside the EU. He noted that expanding bilateral collaboration and agreement on a wide range of local and international issues were characteristics of Pakistan-Italy ties. The Prime Minister noted the importance of fully utilising the potential already present to strengthen trade and investment ties between the two nations while acknowledging Italy’s support in the context of the EU’s preferential trading GSP Plus scheme.
According to the prime minister, Pakistan would be especially interested in partnerships in the field of renewable energy, where Italy has achieved notable strides.
The Prime Minister also emphasised Pakistan’s outstanding collaboration with the international community in the aftermath of the Afghan situation, particularly since August of last year. The Italian ambassador emphasised his determination to further strengthen and broaden the already-existing connections between Pakistan and Italy and thanked the prime minister for having him.
