At Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Monday, New Zealand beat Pakistan easily by nine wickets.
Before Allen and Devon Conway swiftly found their footing in an opening partnership of 117 to set up victory, the Black Caps improved their bowling performance in an effort to atone for their setback to Pakistan on Saturday.
The hosts easily defeated this pursuit and secured their second victory of the series. Pakistan was put out of the battle early on thanks to Finn Allen and Devon Conway’s opening combination. Allen scored his second fifty in a Twenty20 match, which included many huge smashes over the fence. Conway ended with an unblemished 49 despite being more reserved.
Only Shadab Khan for Pakistan was successful in taking out Allen.
Five wickets were split by Mitchell Santner, Michael Bracewell, and Ish Sodhi. Tim Southee took a few wickets and gave up nothing in the final over.
The Pakistani batting team struggled and could only muster 130 runs, which the Kiwis comfortably chased down in 16.1 overs.
Asif Ali scored 25 off 20 balls, while Iftikhar Ahmed batted 27 off 27 balls to lead Pakistan in scoring. While Mohammad Rizwan, the wicketkeeper, only managed to score 16 runs, captain Babar Azam scored 21 off 23.
Following the triumph by the hosts, Pakistan and New Zealand now each have two victories and one loss. The Black Caps’ next opponent will be Bangladesh on Wednesday in Christchurch.
On Thursday, October 13, Pakistan will face Bangladesh in their next game.
