On Monday, Moldova reported that Russian cruise missiles aimed towards Ukraine had violated its airspace. Following this report, Moldova summoned Moscow’s representative and demanded an explanation.
On Twitter, Moldova’s foreign minister Nicu Popescu stated that “three cruise missiles launched on Ukraine this morning from Russian ships in the Black Sea entered Moldova’s airspace.”
“I gave the order to call the ambassador of Russia to give an explanation.”
Popescu voiced concern at the several attacks made on Ukrainian cities on Monday, which came a day after Moscow accused Ukraine of being responsible for an explosion on a bridge that connects Crimea to Russia.
“Appalled by the many Russian rocket attacks on Ukrainian cities, including the nation’s capital Kyiv, which hit civilian objectives. Killing must cease in Russia, he insisted.
The personnel of the Moldovan embassy in Kyiv, he claimed, had been in contact with his office, and they were safe “and sheltering from these terrible attacks on people.”
Popescu added, “Our sympathies are with the victims of the cruel blows.
