PESHAWAR: In an unexpected turn of events, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administration and the opposition have agreed on a name for the province’s acting chief minister.
In the meeting conducted to finalise the appointment of the province’s caretaker CM, everyone present unanimously agreed on the name of the former KP chief secretary, Azam Khan.
We all agree that Azam Khan should be the caretaker chief minister. Akram Khan Durrani, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan-Fazal (JUI-F), said, “We have chosen a guy who is acceptable to all.
Mahmood Khan, the chief minister of KP, commented on the situation, claiming that it was the first time in “history” that a caretaker chief minister’s name had been unanimously chosen.
Khan said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan had endorsed the candidature by saying, “We agreed on Azam Khan in collaboration with our leader.”
