MULTAN: In a defeat for Imran Khan’s party, Musa Gilani of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) defeated Meher Bano Qureshi of the PTI.According to unofficial results, Meher, the daughter of PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi, managed to win 59,993 votes, while Musa, the son of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani, managed to secure 79,743 votes and take a lead of 19,750.
A fierce race was anticipated between the two candidates because Qureshi had joined the PTI by the time Qureshi left his Multan NA seat vacant over ten years prior, in early 2012. Gilani then went on to win that seat.
