General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the chief of the army staff, has made it clear that no nation, group, or force would ever be allowed to use its power to destabilise Pakistan’s politics or economy.
He said Pakistan is a nation that values peace while speaking during the passing out parade on Saturday at Pakistan Military Academy Kakul. He claimed that Pakistan has made serious and unremitting efforts to establish cordial ties with all of its neighbours and other regional nations as part of its desire for peace.
He said that we are making every effort to end the political impasse that has prevented the South Asian nations from moving forward and peacefully and dignifiedly resolving all regional and bilateral concerns.
The Army Chief emphasised that South Asians should also enjoy wealth and improved living circumstances. This is only possible with continued economic progress, prosperity, and most importantly, unbreakable peace. Therefore, we must make every effort to prevent conflict from erupting in the area.
He said that we must create a system to settle all bilateral disputes amicably in order to give peace a chance. He argued that we should all work together to combat hunger, poverty, illiteracy, population growth, climate change, and illness.
However, General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that Pakistan’s desire for peace should not be seen as a sign of its frailty. Nobody should have any doubts about our shared will to protect our fundamental interests and the whole homeland, he added. He emphasised that we have made financial and material sacrifices to protect the integrity and sovereignty of the nation.
According to the Army Chief, the Pakistani Army, with the full backing and trust of the country, has effectively eradicated organised terrorism from Pakistan over the past 20 years. This is a singular feat that not many nations or militaries can be proud of.
