Official policy now permits Umrah pilgrims to arrive and exit from any airport in Saudi Arabia.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has ordered all domestic and foreign airlines to let Umrah pilgrims to arrive at and depart from any international airport in the country on scheduled flights.
The government has warned the airlines to abide by its orders or face the repercussions.
It is mandatory to abide by GACA circulars; failing to do so would be illegal. In a warning, the authorities warned that violators will face consequences and legal action.
Prior to the circular, Umrah pilgrims were restricted to using the airports in Medina and Jeddah; the new policy gives them additional options.
