ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge ruled on Friday that it was the city administration’s duty to clear any blocked roadways, whether they were caused by a sit-in protest or shipping containers.During the hearing of a petition challenging PTI politician Zahid Akbar’s detention and subsequent placement in a sub-jail, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani made these comments.
Action can only be taken when a wrongdoing has been committed, the court ruled. “Numerous cases are registered by police on behalf of the state, their hearings go on, and governments change,” the court said.
The IHC instructed the police department to release PTI leader Zahid Akbar. Minutes after reserving the decision, Justice Kayani read it aloud.Akbar was arrested by police a week ago at his home in the federal capital on suspicion of planning to vandalise the metro bus stop.
