MOSCOW: In two separate cases, a Moscow court on Tuesday fined American e-commerce behemoth Amazon.com Inc (AMZN.O) a total of 4 million roubles ($65,000), according to Interfax.
According to Interfax, the court determined that Amazon had neglected to remove content pertaining to drug use and “propaganda suicide,” both of which are prohibited by Russian legislation.
It is the first such punishment imposed against Amazon, despite the fact that American tech companies have come under growing pressure in Russia in recent months, with Meta (META.O) being banned as a “extremist” organisation and Google and Apple receiving fines.
