MILAN: Alvaro Morata’s loan at Juventus expires on Thursday, and the Serie A club has announced that he will return to Atletico Madrid.
The two clubs were unable to reach an agreement that would have allowed the forward from Spain to stay in Italy longer, so he will leave Turin.
Alvaro Morata’s journey at Juventus has come to an end, according to a statement from the Italian team.
The Spanish forward who spent the previous two seasons playing on loan from Atletico Madrid departs the Bianconeri for the second time and rejoins the Colchoneros.
After being loaned out to Juve by Atletico in 2020, Morata was in his second stint there, winning the Italian Cup and tallying 32 goals across all competitions.
He previously represented the team from 2014 to 2016, during which time he won two league and cup doubles and advanced to the Champions League final in 2015.
The 29-year-old expressed his desire to remain in Turin and expressed his happiness at Juventus.
In a farewell message posted to Instagram, Morata said, “Having the chance to wear this shirt is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.”
