Shahid Afridi, a former captain of Pakistan’s cricket team, criticised the BCCI for its “lack of expertise” after the BCCI decided not to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup the next year.
The renowned cricketer posted on Twitter: “Why would BCCI Secy make this comment on the eve of a #T20WorldCup match when wonderful camaraderie between the two sides has been formed over the previous 12 months and has produced good feel-good factor in the two countries? illustrates India’s lack of administrative experience in cricket.”
According to Cricbuzz, the BCCI decided not to tour Pakistan earlier today during its Annual General Meeting. The Indian Cricket Board will insist on a neutral site for the competition, the report further said.
The BCCI secretary and ACC president Jay Shah stated, “Neutral venue for Asia Cup is not unprecedented and we have decided that we will not travel to Pakistan. “I’ve decided we’ll play at a neutral location.”The 2023 Asia Cup will be a 50-over competition because it will serve as a warm-up for the ODI World Cup in India the following year.
