The body of an Indian soldier who vanished in the Himalayas 38 years ago has been found.
Chandrashekhar Harbola and 19 other individuals were caught in an avalanche in 1984 while on patrol in the Siachen glacier near the Pakistan-India border.
Five persons were still missing when 15 bodies were later found.On the Siachen battlefield, the highest in the globe, soldiers from both nations lose their lives in avalanches and storms.In addition to finding Harbola’s body, an unidentified second body was also found by the army unit.
The Haldwani district of the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand is home to Harbola’s family, who claim that the discovery will provide them closure. A complete military funeral has been organised for Harbola’s village.
