Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated on Tuesday that the audio leak is a serious matter and that such security lapses are a concern, and that those who visit the Prime Minister House will think a hundred times before saying anything.
During a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday, he stated that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz did not request any favours for her son-in-law Raheel, and that a high-powered committee will be formed to investigate the matter.
In response to a question, the prime minister stated that the country was in a “state of war on the economic front,” and that the coalition government was working hard to restore the national economy. “Rest assured, we will not flee and will put it on the right track,” he stated emphatically.
The prime minister stated that because the coalition government was focused on the economic situation and working day and night to improve economic conditions, they had no time to settle political scores with Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan.
Without naming Imran Khan, he expressed regret that he had not spent half of his government’s time strengthening the economy.
In response to another question, the prime minister stated unequivocally that the general elections would be held on time and ruled out any threats to the coalition government.
