Actress Rhea Chakraborty received multiple deliveries of “ganja” (weed) from co-accused people, including her brother Showik Chakraborty, according to the Narcotics Control Bureau.
The weed was then given to the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. In the drug case connected to Rajbut’s death, the anti-drug crackdown agency had filed the draught charges against 35 defendants in the special NCB court last month.
On Tuesday, specifics of the investigation were made public.
The draught charges state that all of the accused engaged in a criminal conspiracy to obtain, buy, sell, and distribute drugs in “high society and Bollywood” between March 2020 and December “with each other or in groups,” the agency shared.
According to the draught of the charges, Chakraborty funded drug trafficking and used drugs like “ganja,” “charas,” cocaine, and other psychoactive substances in the Mumbai Metropolitan area without a licence, permit, or authorization.
As a result, they have been charged in accordance with the draught charges under the appropriate provisions of the NDPS Act, such as sections 27 and 27 A (financing illicit traffic and harbouring offenders), 28 (punishment for attempts to commit crimes), and 29 (whoever aids in or is a party to a criminal conspiracy).
The actor, who is the tenth accused, allegedly received numerous ‘ganja’ deliveries from Dipesh Sawant, accused Samuel Miranda, her brother Showik, and others.
The accusation states that she then gave Rajput control of them. Between March 2020 and September of that year, she even made payments for those deliveries.
According to the draught charges, Rhea’s brother frequently communicated with drug dealers and had ordered marijuana and hashish from co-accused individuals, who delivered many times. All of these shipments were given to Rajput.
On June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput was discovered dead in his Bandra home. The Narcotics Control Bureau detained his girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, on September 8 of that year after the organisation filed drug-related charges against her in the Rajput death case.
A month after spending time in Mumbai’s Byculla jail, she was granted bail.
