ISLAMABAD: Sunday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke on the phone with General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), and Lieutenant General Akhtar Nawaz, the head of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), to receive an update on the rescue and relief efforts being carried out by the Pakistan Army.
The prime minister spoke over the phone with COAS Gen. Bajwa about flood victims’ conditions as well as relief and recovery efforts in Sindh and other flood-affected areas.
The PM Office said that the prime minister emphasised the need for more effort.
The army head informed the prime minister of the army’s complete participation throughout the procedure, and PM Shehbaz praised the army’s enthusiasm.The prime minister ordered the introduction of helicopters in the province after realising that they would be useful in operations given how badly the connecting highways between Sindh and Balochistan provinces had deteriorated.
