ISLAMABAD: On the night of August 14, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasised to the country that economic independence is essential to the idea of a country’s independence.
The prime minister renewed his call for the creation of a “charter of economics” in a speech to the country broadcast on television on Saturday, declaring that the moment has come for Pakistan to move in the right way.
“We should put the needs of the country ahead of personal interests,” he said. “Real political leadership doesn’t look ahead to the next elections; it looks ahead to the destiny of the next generation.”
